Francesca Liberatore at MFW — S/S 2022 Fashion Show

The rite, the myth.

The light turns on in the apse of S.Michele and the vision begins. The symbols precedereality through another place, another perspective. Lion, eagle and bull, and at last an angel. Moments enclosed in the map of the World ofMajor Arcana, the fulfillment and realization of the project. Witnesses also in a space of artthat culture demands, the church of S. Michele in Ferrara, new home to the permanentworks of the artist Bruno Liberatore and a crossroads between Fashion and Design, ajuxtaposition of ideas.

Often the object is beautiful because the word is beautiful, a matter of language, so is thebody seen through the dress. Movement, gaze, perception for which the eye is not needed. Only those who know, feeland hear. The light of the contemporary becomes an act of faith for those who believe intheir own reality. The holograms of Neuromachia overturn plans, describe, reveal thepreparation of the backstage, accompany the cadenced step of the catwalk outside, virtual models appear, comments, interviews. Possibility becomes truth.

Creative madness is vital energy and joy, color and lightness, overlapping transparencies, lace, embroidery. Peony, peach, brilliant green, romantic deep necklines, precious liningsfor shirt jackets with a vintage flavor, touches of flame red that alternate with psychedelic black and white, dark and light, fear and religiosity. Essential lines, proportions that become sober, severe in shifting lengths of elastic gauze, organza and coated fabrics moving fromthe sheath to the godet circle skirt, squared necklines. Powerful dresses that find a taste of couture with the emotionality of gold lamé complemented with cream, gathering andpeplums/flounces/ruffles for vests and skirts, a bolero with sumptuous curves. So gradually, embroidered voiles become long and full, tops drape under organza capes in aquamarine.

An ascent from structure to lightness, from rigor to madness to face the theater of life withculture, knowledge and sharing.

“In cinema, the image frightens,

it is big but you can see it from afar,

today people prefer a small image up close,

rather than a large image from a distance…”

The Roman stylist Francesca Liberatore returns “in presence” and prepares to amaze once again with a totally new runway, thanks to the precious collaboration with Naumachia Network.

As per the official calendar of the National Chamber for Italian Fashion, Francesca Liberatore will show her SpringSummer 2022 collection on Sunday, 26 September at 10 am at The Space Cinema, in Piazza Duomo, which already hosted the designer on February 22, 2020, just before the cinemas had turned their screens off for a long time.

A place and a technology that open up perspective on another place, the church of San Michele in Ferrara, new home tothe permanent exhibition of the works of master Bruno Liberatore and a crossroads between Fashion and Design, recently chosen by the Liberatore family as the site for the realization of a collective experience, open, innovative, which will involve firstly the people of Ferrara and then the public, national and international fans who have always followed the artistic history of a multifaceted family, one well known in the world of art and fashion.

Artistic synergies have always distinguished her work as a creative, and now with Naumachia shares the vision to createa model of original avant-garde communication able to permeate into various contexts.

“I wanted to give life to this show with all the greatness that cinema activates and it had to be in presence to really understand the mixture of settings, with the life that a woman can give to a dress, with the movement that the fabric makes you feel, with the empathy of being there and that plus that technology can add in projecting us now and elsewhere, overcoming the traditional system of receiving images. Contingency has put us in front of barriers that even technology has taught us to overcome”, explains the designer.

The project challenges the conventional with creativity and audacity, “Imagine attending a show where a hologram welcomes you and shows you where to sit; imagine that at a concert, your favorite singer becomes ‘gigantic’ to greetthe fans in the last rows or imagine being at the theater and that the actor ‘doubles’ to talk to himself”, continues Francesco Sicolo, Marketing and Commercial Director of Naumachia.

Thanks to Holobox and Holonet, Liberatore and the leading company of Europe in the research and development fieldof Holographic Technology, together anticipate and realize a vision of the future, showing now the incredible world of tomorrow, with a fascinating mixture of art and technology, maintaining the authenticity and realism of the live runway show and models in presence.

In addition to the important figures who work alongside the designer such as the instructor and fashion critic Alessandro Turci, and the photographer and video maker Alice Falco, the show counts on another collaboration with the Made inItaly brand Babouches Frulan, a company from Verona that produces shoes made entirely by hand. “We started acreative process which, without ever abandoning tradition, would include innovation in the shape, structure, choice ofmaterials up to the manufacturing: instances linked by a simple balance of aristocratic and comfort in footwear”, says Arianna Albertini, creative and co-founder of the brand in accordance with the aesthetics of Francesca Liberatore.
